Bio
For anyone interested in the person behind the pictures, I'm Naomi - although I often forget the 'a' in my name and go by Nomi. I'm Scottish, quietly religious, hyper active and a midget. I graduated in 2008 from Abertay with a first in Computer Arts BA(Hons). I specialised in character animation and lighting, and have done some work on games design and for the BBC
For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted to tell stories but animation as a career path never occurred to me until I watched the making of 'Monsters Inc.' Since then I have been enamoured with the weird and wonderful worlds that animation can create. Equally special effects appeal for the same reason - making the fantastical possible.
Technically I have had training in 2D and 3D animation (specifically Maya) and lighting (using Maya and Houdini), as well as a grounding in traditional art and audio work.
In the past I have dabbled in writing (even coming joint-second in the Pushkin Prize
all the way back in 2000), attempted pottery for a few years and I have
studied stage acting for 6 years with Stirling District Youth Theatre -
in fact the acting has been on of the most valuable skills I've picked
up along my travels when it comes to animating and ligthing. I’m also a fairly
accomplished alto saxophone player and can play guitar and sing
reasonably. I like being a jack of all trades.
In my spare time I like masquerading as a goth, film noir, art deco,
playing Lord of the Rings online and I have a love of overly violent
movies. I also abuse smileys and have had to use a great deal of self
restraint to not fill this website with them.
